Analyze team members at risk of attrition

Analyze team members at risk of attrition

Ask Plane for the tenure, pay, and role signals that often precede someone leaving, then take action to help keep your team members.

What we used

What we used

What it does

Whether you’re a Head of People watching a growing team or a founder without HR support yet, you can see who’s showing early signals of attrition risk before it becomes a surprise resignation, using the workforce records already in Plane. Ask a plain-language question and Plane reads your live records for details such as tenure and how long it’s been since someone’s last pay change, then hands back a table you can act on.

Note: this only shows potential signals. Plane doesn’t hold performance reviews, engagement scores, or exit-interview data, so the table reflects what employment records show instead of the full picture. Treat this as a potential flag.

Disclaimer: This use case surfaces employment-record signals. It isn’t a performance evaluation, prediction, or legal/HR advice.

Setting up your MCP connection

Before you start, connect your AI app to Plane. In an MCP-compatible client (such as Claude or ChatGPT), add Plane as a remote connector using the link below. For more detailed instructions, check out our MCP guide.

Step 1: Set the criteria

Note that excluding archived records matters as much as excluding terminated ones; Plane can carry a record that still shows an active status even though the worker is archived, which would otherwise put someone who no longer works here on the list.

Step 2: Customize the criteria as needed

Confirm whether the criteria the AI app suggests works for you, and refine as needed. For example:

Step 3: Build a table and summarize

Review the results from your AI app and ask it to create a table and summary for you (or however you’d like the data to be presented). For instance:

Step 4 (optional): Ask the AI app to create a Google Spreadsheet

If you prefer to use Google Spreadsheet, you can ask your AI app to convert the table into a Google Spreadsheet. Just make sure your AI app is connected to your Google Drive (e.g., you’ll need to add Google Drive as a connector in Claude). Once it’s connected, use a prompt like this:

Once you have your attrition risk data in the format you prefer, you decide what’s next. Talk to managers with high-risk reports, or maybe present your data at an upcoming meeting.

What you'll need

  • A Plane workspace with your team’s tenure, compensation, and role history

  • Permission to view compensation and reporting data across the team

  • An MCP-compatible AI client (e.g., Claude or ChatGPT) connected to Plane and optionally to Google Drive
