Employment verification letter

Employment verification letter

Stop dropping everything to write verification letters by hand. Ask Plane and get an accurate, ready-to-send draft pulled from your live records. No lookups, no templates.

What it does

Ask for an employee’s details — title, employment status, dates, and more — and get back a ready-to-send letter drawn straight from your live records. Route it to the right approver first, and export it as a finished PDF when you’re ready to send.

Setting up your MCP connection

Before you start, you’ll connect your AI app to Plane. In an MCP-compatible client, add Plane as a remote connector using the link below. For more detailed instructions, check out our MCP guide.

Setting up Plane Agent

To turn on Plane Agent, sign into your Plane account and go to the Features catalog. Note that Plane Agent is currently in beta.

Option A: Use your AI app with Plane's MCP server

Step 1: Ask for the letter

Use clear, plain language to ask the AI app for what you want.

Step 2 (optional): Route it for approval first

Plane knows who each worker reports to. Ask the AI app to find the manager and prepare the approval request:

Plane pulls the reporting relationship from the worker's record. If your AI app is connected to your email, it can drop the request straight into a draft for your review.

💡 Tip: Prefer Slack? If your AI client is connected to Slack, ask it to send the draft to the manager there instead of emailing it.

Step 3: Send it

Once the letter is approved, ask the assistant to draft the email to the recipient with the letter attached, ready for you to review and send.

Option B: Ask Plane Agent in Slack

If you'd rather not leave Slack, Plane Agent brings the same capability into the channels you already use. (Note: Plane Agent is also available in Plane, too, if you prefer.)

Step 1: Ask for the letter

Describe it in plain language, just as above. Name the employee and the details to include.

💡 Tip: Leave salary out by saying so, as above. Add the recipient (e.g., a bank or landlord) if the letter should be addressed to someone specific.

Step 2 (optional): Route it for approval first

Plane knows who each worker reports to, so you don't have to look it up. Ask Plane Agent to route the draft before it goes out:

Plane pulls the reporting relationship from the worker's record and drafts the approval request for you. Nothing sends until you say so.

💡 Tip: You don't have to watch for the response. Come back later and ask "Did Jordan's manager reply?" If they approved with a small change, Plane reads the feedback and updates the letter for you to confirm.

Step 3: Review and send

Plane Agent returns a complete draft using current records. Read it over, make any edits, and send it on, right from Slack.

What you'll need

  • A Plane workspace with the employee's records

  • Permission to view that worker's employment details

  • For Plane Agent: Plane Agent enabled in your Slack workspace (currently in beta)

  • For MCP: an MCP-compatible AI client (e.g., Claude or ChatGPT) connected to Plane

  • For approval routing and sending: your assistant connected to Slack or email (optional — only needed to send requests and read replies automatically)
