From rolling out 1035 updates to our platform (that’s an average of 2.8 per day!) to sending payments to your team members in 162 countries, we had a sizzling year at Plane! We’ve been busy perfecting your payroll and HR experience, while having fun as a team along the way. Here are some of our favorite highlights.

Home Sweet Home

We gave our platform a makeover, with the release of the new Home experience. Admins now enjoy quicker access to key account and team details with a sleek new dashboard, alongside Tasks, Notifications, and Calendar tabs. Contractors, employees, and vendors also got dedicated pages for Tasks and Notifications, a new Personal page, and a shiny new dashboard. Welcome to your new home!

Accounting Made Easy

In June, we delivered a major item on your wish list: Accounting Automation. This powerful feature streamlines your month-end close by letting you prepare and approve accounting items in Plane and export them as journal entries to QuickBooks Online. Save days of manual work each month for you and your team.

Unified Payroll for Everyone

Background in bright blue with country flags next to each item.

This year, we fully migrated all customers to Unified Payroll. Now everyone can run payroll for US (W-2) employees, international employees, and contractors worldwide, all from one screen in the platform.

Other Launches

The example lists three employees with statuses pending or blocked. The section highlights additional platform improvements such as vendor-to-contractor conversion, faster batch payments, complex payroll support, off-cycle payrolls, compensation changes, improved filters, and more.

Besides our big launches, we also made several smaller yet mighty improvements to the platform. Among them:

  • You can now convert vendors to contractors

  • Batch payments to contractors are noticeably faster

  • More complex payroll calculations are now supported with our new under-the-hood system

  • Add terminated team members to off-cycle payrolls to process their final paychecks after termination

  • A new Payroll Preview report lets you preview current and future pay periods to understand the effects of onboarding, offboarding, and compensation changes

  • Request compensation changes for international employees directly in Plane

  • Improved filters for reports

  • And much more!

Plane Out and About

Our CEO Matt and lead engineer Kamil got to rep Plane at a happy hour we co-hosted with Stripe, kicking off the Y Combinator Alumni Reunion in San Francisco.

We also had team meetups in Las Vegas, Miami, and Colorado (with more destinations in sight for next year!). Meanwhile, Kamil shared his Ruby expertise at GitHub, and our Business Operations Manager Filip was a panelist at a conference in London.
